A man is jailed facing a charge of theft of a firearm. Beaumont police attempted to stop a car
last night on East Lucas Street when the driver sped off. The chase ended when the driver
pulled into a driveway in the 4500 block of Harding. The car had five people in it. A search
revealed a loaded AK-47 rifle that turned out to be stolen. One person in the vehicle confessed
to the stolen rifle and was taken into custody. Evading charges could also be filed.
