There was a runoff election in Orange on Saturday to determine the Place 3 council seat.
Terri S Salter defeated Michal Smith by picking up just over 60% of the vote. Salter and
Smith were the top two vote getters in the May election. In Port Arthur, a city council
woman that was defeated in the May election has filed a petition challenging the outcome
after she lost by three votes to Carroll Jones. Tiffany Hamilton claims three voters were
denied their right to vote in the election. She filed the petition with the Jefferson County
District Clerk’s Office this past Friday.
