Britt Featherston, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas, has announced the
creation of a Disaster Fraud Task Force. The task force is comprised of local, state, and federal
agencies to combat Hurricane Harvey related disaster fraud activity. Some of the activity
reported is impersonating federal law enforcement officials, identity theft, fraudulent claims,
fraudulent solicitations for charitable giving, along with theft, looting, and other crimes.
