Beaumont police have released the name of the city’s first homicide from 2018. 57-year
old Lynda Barnes, of Beaumont, was shot and killed Monday morning at a residence in the
1100 block of Church Street. Beaumont police Sgt Cody Guedry says they are looking for
the gunman, who fled the scene. Anyone with any information is asked to call Southeast Texas
