A Jefferson County constable is being asked to resign. Constable Charlie Wiggins was
appointed by county commissioners following the resignation of Earl White, who became
Beaumont’s fire chief. As part of the appointment, Wiggins agreed not to run for the
position in the upcoming election. Wiggins now says he will run for constable in Precinct 1.
