The Texas State Comptroller’s Office has announced the dates of this year’s “Back to School’
sales tax holiday. The event will take place August 9th-11th. The law exempts sales tax on
qualified items such as clothing. Footwear, school supplies, and backpacks. This year, shoppers
will save an estimated$102.2 millionin state and local sales tax. The “Back to School” sales
tax weekend has been an annual event since 1999. The dates again will be August 9th-11th.
