A 50-year old Beaumont man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for attacking a family
member that left the victim in a medically induced coma for five to six days. A jury convicted
Maurice Ernest Berry III for the August 2019 attack at ahome in the 3000 block of Silver in
Beaumont. Berry will have to serve at least 13 years of the sentence before he becomes eligible
for parole.
