Governor Abbott Announces Plans To Reopen Texas

Texas Governor Greg Abbott believes the economy can start reopening in the near future. He announced today a plan to loosen certain restrictions on medical procedures starting April 22nd. The retail sector of Texas will be allowed to start to-go services starting next Friday. The governor will announce more openings on April 27th, but noted the state will study comprehensive testing and whether the vulnerable will stay protected. Abbott noted hundreds of people have recovered from coronavirus and the worst may have passed. The governor says testing capabilities are up and there are safe standards, including social distancing and better hygiene, in place. Schools have been closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.
