Following a heated argument between Ward 3 Councilman Audwin Samuel and Ward 2
Councilman Mike Getz, the city of Beaumont has voted 4-1 to remove a confederate
statue located at Weiss Park. The only no vote was Getz. During a exchange of words
between the two councilmen, Mayor Becky Ames called for a 10 minute recess before they
returned for the vote.
