Death Penalty To Remain In Louisiana

(Baton Rouge, LA)-- The Louisiana legislature is rejecting a move to repeal the state's death penalty. A bill by Democratic Sen. Katrina Jackson proposed the elimination of the death penalty for murderers convicted after August 1st of this year. Jackson's bill also would have redirected money toward early childhood education. A committee listened to testimony both pro and con for a couple of hours before tossing out the bill. Jackson says she'll try again next year.
