Due to rising water from recent rains, the Sabine River Authority has opened spillway gates at Toledo
Bend. Five gates have been opened one foot. This should not cause any flooding down river. Newton
County officials will continue to monitor the river levels. As of late yesterday, the lake was just over 172
feet.
