Outburst In Court Room Pauses Trial

A murder trial in Jefferson County was briefly halted yesterday when the father of the victim had an

outburst in the courtroom and had to be restrained by family members. 20-year old Darryl Provost is

on trial for the August 2022 shooting death of Alfonso Solomon outside the McDonalds on Twin City

Highway in Groves. Solomon’s father became enraged when a photo of his dead son was shown in

the courtroom. He later apologized to the jury. Provost could get up to life in prison if he is convicted.

A second defendant, 21-year old Darionte Everfield is awaiting trial.
