I ran across the Roy Rogers “Quick Shooter Hat” this morning while prepping for my show.
I had to stop and envision what wrath a toy like that would bring to society today.
Roy Rogers appears in the ad, showing young folks how a hidden gun inside one of the
Roy Rogers cowboy hats would fend off “varmints who were out to shoot you”.
How hideously imperfect and politically incorrect.
A gun ….hidden in a hat. How droll.
Varmints couldn’t hold you up if you had the QSH.
Ah yes…holdups….how about holdups?
Seems to me there were a lot less convenience store holdups then.
Of course there were no convenience stores either. The price of the (hat-gun) was a princely
5.98. That of course was far more than the minimum wage.
However most of us would have gladly worked for the minimum wage, no matter what it was.
However, there were more jobs available then, weren’t there?
We didn’t have a cell phone to play Candy Crush like kids today, but our mothers would have made us go outside and play anyway.
Of course, Roy Rogers wouldn’t be politically correct now, because he carried a gun.
He also rode a horse, which was cruel. Note: They are getting rid of the horse and buggy’s in New York. (cruelty, you know).
Also, in that getup he would have been accused of being gay, (or maybe accused for not being gay).
I am so happy I was a child of a different generation. I ate sugary breakfast foods and sent off for all the gimmicks.
I played outside in rain or snow. I did know how to dial a phone.
I did know how to play cowboys and …whoops!! (Native Americans).
Anyway, Google “Roy Rogers Quick Shooter Hat”. It will make you laugh.
Or go to KLVI.com, click on Al Caldwell and it will come up.
After all, a little political incorrectness goes a long way.
