Dr. Pomonis was born in Houston, Texas and moved to Laporte, Texas when he was six years old. After graduating from high school, he went to the University of Texas at Austin where he received his B.A in Biology in the Pre-med program. After graduating from medical school at the North Texas Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Pomonis did his internship in Family Practice at the University of Texas in Galveston, and then completed the Family Practice Residency Program at the University of Texas in Houston. Fulfilling his childhood dream, Dr. Pomonis set up his initial private practice as a country doctor in Bertram/Burnett, Texas where he had a weekly medical advice column in the Bertram/Burnett newspaper. The column was known as the “Country Doctor Corner“ and thus his lifelong moniker was born. An occasional local radio spot with the same name taught his Burnett county citizens to stay healthy. In 1991, Dr. Pomonis moved his practice to Orange, TX across the street from Baptist Hospital Orange and started another radio program at Beaumont’s local Fox affiliated radio station as the “Country Doctor”. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Pomonis brought his “Country Doctor Corner” radio show to KLVI Clear Channel radio 560-AM and has been there ever since. Today, SE Texas and SW Louisiana can enjoy his show and learn the latest in medical care every Wednesday between 6pm-7pm. Dr. Pomonis has five children. The oldest son, Dr. Jason, is a physical/sports therapy chiropractic specialist in Beaumont, TX, and his four daughters Whitney, Courtney, Michelle, and Nicki are all still finishing their secondary education. Dr. Pomonis’ hobbies are fishing, hunting, scuba diving, sailing, and cross training. His main passions in life are taking care of his clinic and nursing home patients, his radio show, geriatrics, nutrition, sports and rehab medicine, diabetes, giving lectures, and cosmetic aesthetic medicine, i.e. Botox/laser/Juvederm therapy. He still makes his own nursing home and hospital rounds as well as house calls throughout the Golden Triangle. Dr. Pomonis is board certified in family practice and disability-impairment rating. He sees patients in his office Monday through Friday. His office is at 3306 Ridgemont Orange, TX and the office number is 409-882-0995.
