City of Beaumont’s Fourth of July Celebration, July 4th, Gates open @ 5:00 pm, Riverfront Park

Bring your blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the fun, food and music. Foods such as barbecue, boudain, hot dogs, pork kabobs, funnel cakes, cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones, and ice cream will be available along with cool beverages. Food and drink will be available in all areas of Riverfront Park. Festivities will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the sounds of country, jazz and blues groups, so come out, pick a nice spot to relax and enjoy an evening with friends and family in Riverfront Park. Country artist Regina Richards will take the Riverfront Park stage at 5:00 PM, followed by 9 Station Drive at 6:00 PM and at 7:30 PM Doyle Bramhall will take the stage until 9:00 PM. For your entertainment pleasure, the Symphony of Southeast Texas, under the direction of Dr. Jimmy Simmons will perform a fun and exciting program which includes musical selections of light classics, jazz standards, musical theatre, and patriotic selections including the William Tell Overture, Georgia on My Mind (featuring Kurt Killion on saxophone), Sing, Sing, Sing (featuring Jimmy Simmons on clarinet), and God Bless the USA. This year you can enjoy the Symphony in the comfort of the beautiful renovated Julie Rogers Theatre. The performance will begin at 8:00 PM. Come a little early and get that special seat and enjoy the Symphony in air-conditioned comfort. The Ground Rush Skydiving group out of Nome, Texas, will provide a skydiving demonstration with up to four jumpers. The demonstration will include pyrotechnics and other fanfare. Watch the skies around 6:30 pm for these jumpers. This year we are excited to again welcome the Southeast Texas Veteran's Service Group who will be providing the color guard and also a “twenty-one gun salute” for us during the program. The evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display accompanied by patriotic music. This is always a sensational panoramic display as the pyrotechnics are reflected in the waters of the Neches River. The evening, provided by the City of Beaumont, is one that you will long remember. There will be no admission charge for attending the activities in Riverfront Park or the Symphony in the Julie Rogers Theatre.   • July 2 - The McFaddin-Ward House staff is bringing by-gone items to the City of Beaumont Public Library System for young readers as a summer activity. Children will be able touch toys and tools used by their grandparents, or possibly their great-grandparents, in their younger days. The Education Department from The McFaddin-Ward House, comprised of Judith Linsley and Becky Fertitta, will be joined by museum volunteers staffing five tables where the children can learn to work the unfamiliar pieces. Table topics include: School Days, Children’s Chores, Etiquette, Everyday Clothing, and Old-Time Toys. The volunteers will also be dressed in early 20th-century costumes.   • July 4 - Fourth of July Celebration - Friday * July 4 * Gates at 5:00 p.m. - Riverfront Park - Presented By: City of Beaumont - Fourth of July Celebration on the Neches River offers a rollicking salute to our nation's past with events that include local musical groups performing at 6 p.m and at 8 p.m. Concert by the Symphony of Southeast Texas. The orchestra will perform aboard a barge anchored in the Neches River as the audience savors the music from the park's grassy knoll. At 9 p.m., fireworks explode in the sky while the explosive and dramatic delight to eye and ear continues for about 30 minutes. Food and beverage booths are set up only in the park.   • July 5 - OLD GLORY IN WILDWOOD - 2008 - Old Glory in Wildwood will start at 9:00 a.m. with a parade traveling through the Wildwood community and ending at the Lodge.
