One thing keeps sticking in my mind. Do we really believe that a couple of IRS workers in
Happy Birthday, Miss Kree. And congratulations on the impossible task of overcoming so much heartbreak at such a young age. Congratulations on passing over 100,000 contestants to win the coveted prize you sought. I say win, because there was no way you were going to lose last night. You are the Southeast Texas American Idol and in a way, have been since the first night we ever saw you sing. You had on boots just about too big and a cowgirl hat that almost swallowed that pretty face. When you opened your mouth a miracle popped out. One that entranced millions across the country who now share the same secret as we. The one that says you can sing like an angel and yet rattle the heavens with a vibrato second to none. We know you are not jealous of anyone because you are a professional. Wonderful things await you and we can’t wait for them to begin. Thanks for putting us on the musical map where other greats like George and Janis and Johnny hung their hats and called our area home. You done good, Kree. It’s as simple as that. The songs you will sing, the places you will travel and the folks you will meet. They’re all just around the corner. We love you, big girl. We love you.
I noticed in a trade paper on line that some folks are frustrated with the fact that the
So 0.5 is the new number to look for. Hey, if you never take a drink, OK with me. If you drink too much and drive, not OK with me. But, let’s get real. Another example of the “nanny state” we are heading for. Driving 75 is legal, but if it’s raining or there’s a lot of traffic on the road, is it really legal? One drink would put some people “over the line”. Maybe not impaired, but over the line. Advocates for the 0.5 will forget about the jobs lost to restaurant owners who will suffer because of the lack in sales. If one drink impairs, then smart people will not drink at all. In a perfect world we would all eat no chocolate or burgers and no shakes. No fries, (except for the wretched sweet potato fries which taste like scotch tape). They did it with cigarette’s, they will do it with booze. And for those of you who feel smug about this, just remember one thing. THEY WILL CONTINUE TO GET EVERYTHING YOU HAVE UNTIL THERE AINT NO MORE TO GET!!!! Read George Orwell’s 1984….and watch out for the big TV set they might put in your living room.
We will see if El Presidente apologizes on behalf of the IRS for targeting tea party members along with others in the latest IRS debacle. If this had happened ( you already knew) on the liberal side, the outrage would be unsustainable. Wonder if the major networks know About this yet? Good possibility they don’t. After all, there is so much more they have missed. I know the cover up regarding
The cartoon shows Tim Tebow announcing “I am a Christian”
He is told to keep it to himself
The other side of the cartoon shows Jason Collins
Announcing “I am gay”
He is told “You are a hero. Let’s hear more about it.
It is so wonderful to hear the media talk about bias and not practice it.
It is so wonderful of the media who has freedom of speech to tell the wrong people to shut up.
It is amazing that in this day and age, someone who loves their mother and goes to church
Can be ridiculed openly.
It is not surprising the glee shown by sportscasters around the country when Tebow was cut by the Jet’s.
The happiness surrounding them when they point to his failures and the fact he is not ready for the NFL.
Let’s not make Jason Collins out the culprit here. He simply was indeed brave enough to come out of the so called closet.
But why in doing so, when some are treated so fairly for their lifestyle, others are treated with disdain.
If memory serves me correctly, Tim won a Heisman trophy. I think he also said he loved his family and his saviour.
So the planes are flying again and the inconvenience is over with! Wow. Are we surprised? That great congress did it again. They solved another problem…by creating still another. They solved the problem of budget cutting among traffic controllers. They did it by moving funds from one account to another. Great, huh? This is tantamount to your or I having a big balance, say two thousand dollars at Macy’s. Hmm. What to do? How do I pay it? Oh, I know. Put the balance on my Visa. Yes, that’s it. That way I don’t owe Macy’s anything. But I do owe Visa. But that’s ok. It’s just like having it paid off, isn’t it? NO IT IS NOT. Shifting money from one account to another does not get rid of the debt. We are still in hock up to our ears, thanks to a congress who couldn’t balance a budget if their life depended on it. But then their life doesn’t depend on it, does it?
Rest well, George. It’s been a long and harrowing trip at times, but you made every step a memorable one.“Possum” passed away this morning, outliving most of his critics. As one who has played his songs on both country and top forty, I can truly appreciate his contributions to music. If you really listened to him sing you knew he had as much soul as any human being could have. He had a little Hank and a little George and a little of you and I in every song. He was us. “He stopped loving her today” had tears running down my face, even though I showed up that day in a great mood. He knew love and he knew lost love. He knew how to deliver, sometimes in a faint whisper. He knew how to laugh his way through “White Lightning” and “The race is on”, and knew how to break down with “The window up above”. I am so happy that my son Steve, while having he and Merle Haggard together on a show, managed to get them together. Together long enough to put their footprints in cement at
FYI…it’s take your son or daughter to work day. Mine are too big and too bored. OK. The mother of the “bomber” (make that either #1 or # 2) says he didn’t do it. She doesn’t believe it. This from a woman whose other son says he did it. This from a woman who cannot come back to this country, because she faces
